Now is a complicated time to be an educator. There are many facets underlying the issues that we face within our schools these days. Although we cannot tackle these challenges all at once, we can take small steps, one school, one class, and one student at a time. This thesis presents the animated TV series The Simpsons as a compelling example of the role popular culture plays in motivating and engaging student participation in the classroom.
